Effects of Sagunjutang Water Extract on the phygiological activity of Rabbits

Abstract
|
|
|
The sagunjatang has be used as a Chinese herbal medicine for strengthening ones virality or tonic medicine from Song denesty.
The present experiment was designed to investigate the effects of Sagunjatang on the rabbit phygiological activate function. And thus ti was measured ATPase activity and QO^2 for ATP synthesis respectively, it has been also studied the effects of the extract on the production of immunoglobulin.
The results were obtained as follows:
1. The molecular weight of Sarcoplasmic Reticulum ATPase was 100k dalton and the optimum pH was 6.8 and the optimum concentrations of Mg^++ and Ca^++ were 4mM and 0.1mM respectively.
2. The ATPase activity was stimulated by the Sagunjatang at the concentration of 1%, the activation mechanism was suggested by decreasing Km value from 7.81 to 3.85 and by decreasing energy of activation from 16.2 Kcal/mole to 14.9 Kcal/mole in the presence of Sagunjatang.
3.Sagunjatang consists of Ginseng, Atractylodes, Hoelen, Glycyrrhizae. The activation effects of the ingredients were in order of Ginseng, Atractylodes, Holen at the concentration of 1%, however the combination experiments demonstrated synergism and counterbalance. Therefore it has been thought that Glycyrrhizae acts as a neuntralizing agent in the present experiment.
4. Sagunjatang stimulated the succinic acid dehydrogenase activity of Krebs´ cycle, and thus increased the QO_2 with ATP production.
5. Sagunjatang increased the production of immoglobulin, however it did not affect the haemopoiesis.
According to the results, the Sagunjatang affected the ATP synthesis and ATP hydrolysis by stimulating the activity of succinic acid dehydrogenase and ATPase respectively, and it also aftected the production of immunoglobulin.
Therefore, we concluded that Sagunjatang increased the physiological activity of rabbits in present experiment.
